The Forty-seventh Miracle of Messiah:

Lukas 24:36-49

עוֹדָם מְדַבְּרִים כַּדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וְיֵשׁוּעַ עַצְמוֹ עָמַד בְּתוֹכָם וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם שָׁלוֹם לָכֶם׃ וְהֵמָּה חַתּוּ וְנִבְעָתוּ וַיַּחְשְׁבוּ כִּי־רוּחַ הֵם רֹאִים׃ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם מַה־לָּכֶם כִּי תִבָּהֵלוּ וְלָמָּה תַעֲלֶינָה מַחֲשָׁבוֹת בִּלְבַבְכֶם׃ רְאוּ אֶת־יָדַי וְאֶת־רַגְלַי כִּי אָנֹכִי הוּא מַשְׁשׁוּנִי וּרְאוּ כִּי רוּחַ אֵין לוֹ בָּשָׂר וַעֲצָמוֹת כַּאֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם רֹאִים בִּי׃ וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר אֶת־הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה הֶרְאָה אֹתָם אֵת יָדָיו וְאֵת רַגְלָיו׃ וְהֵם עוֹד לֹא הֶאֱמִינוּ מִשִּׂמְחָה וַיִּתְמָהוּ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם הֲיֵשׁ־לָכֶם פֹּה אֹכֶל׃ וַיִּתְּנוּ לוֹ חֲתִיכַת דָּג צָלוּי׃ וַיִּקַּח וַיֹּאכַל לְעֵינֵיהֶם׃ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם אֵלֶּה הֵם הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶם בְּעוֹד הֱיוֹתִי עִמָּכֶם כִּי הִמָּלֵא יִמָּלֵא כָּל־הַכָּתוּב עָלַי בְּתוֹרַת משֶׁה וּבַנְּבִיאִים וּבַתְּהִלִּים׃ אָז פָּתַח אֶת־לִבָּם לְהָבִין אֶת־הַכְּתוּבִים׃ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם כֵּן כָּתוּב וְכֵן נִגְזָר אֲשֶׁר יְעֻנֶּה הַמָּשִׁיחַ וְיָקוּם מִן־הַמֵּתִים בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי׃ וַאֲשֶׁר תִּקָּרֵא בִשְׁמוֹ תְּשׁוּבָה וּסְלִיחַת הַחֲטָאִים בְּכָל־הַגּוֹיִם הָחֵל מִירוּשָׁלָיִם׃ וְאַתֶּם עֵדֵי הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה׃ וְהִנְנִי שׁוֹלֵחַ לָכֶם אֵת הַבְטָחַת אָבִי וְאַתֶּם שְׁבוּ בָּעִיר יְרוּשָׁלַיִם עַד כִּי־תִלְבְּשׁוּ עֹז מִמָּרוֹם׃

עוֹדָם מְדַבְּרִים כָּזֹאת וְהוּא עָמַד בְּתוֹכָם. אָמַר לָהֶם: “שָׁלוֹם לָכֶם”, אַךְ הֵם נִבְהֲלוּ וְנִתְמַלְּאוּ פַּחַד, וְחָשְׁבוּ כִּי רוּחַ הֵם רוֹאִים. אָמַר לָהֶם: “מַדּוּעַ נֶחֱרַדְתֶּם וּמַדּוּעַ עוֹלִים סְפֵקוֹת בִּלְבַבְכֶם? רְאוּ אֶת יָדַי וְאֶת רַגְלַי – שֶׁאֲנִי הוּא. מַשְּׁשׁוּנִי וּרְאוּ; הֲרֵי לְרוּחַ אֵין בָּשָׂר וַעֲצָמוֹת כְּמוֹ שֶׁאַתֶּם רוֹאִים בִּי.” וּבְאָמְרוֹ זֹאת הֶרְאָה לָהֶם אֶת יָדָיו וְאֶת רַגְלָיו. מֵאַחַר שֶׁעוֹד לֹא הֶאֱמִינוּ מֵרֹב שִׂמְחָה וְהָיוּ מְלֵאֵי פְּלִיאָה, אָמַר לָהֶם: “הַאִם יֵשׁ לָכֶם פֹּה אֵיזֶה אֹכֶל?” הֵם נָתְנוּ לוֹ חֲתִיכַת דָּג צָלוּי, וְהוּא לָקַח וְאָכַל לְעֵינֵיהֶם. הוֹסִיף וְאָמַר לָהֶם: “אֵלֶּה דְּבָרַי אֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶם בְּעוֹד שֶׁהָיִיתִי עִמָּכֶם: צָרִיךְ שֶׁיִּתְקַיֵּם כָּל הַכָּתוּב עָלַי בְּתוֹרַת מֹשֶׁה וּבַנְּבִיאִים וּבַתְּהִלִּים.” אָז פָּתַח אֶת לְבָבָם לְהָבִין אֶת הַכְּתוּבִים וְאָמַר לָהֶם: “כָּךְ כָּתוּב, שֶׁהַמָּשִׁיחַ יִסְבֹּל וְיָקוּם מִן הַמֵּתִים בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי, וּבִשְׁמוֹ תֻּכְרַז תְּשׁוּבָה וּסְלִיחַת חֲטָאִים לְכָל הַגּוֹיִם הָחֵל מִירוּשָׁלַיִם. אַתֶּם עֵדִים לַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה. הִנְנִי שׁוֹלֵחַ לָכֶם אֶת אֲשֶׁר הִבְטִיחַ אָבִי, וְאַתֶּם שְׁבוּ בָּעִיר עַד שֶׁתִּלְבְּשׁוּ עֹז מִמָּרוֹם.” פ

They were still speaking words like this (“surely Adoneinu has risen from the dead”) when Yeshua himself stood among them. He said, “Shalom to you!” But they were shocked and terrified and thought they were seeing a spirit. He said, “What is it to you that you are alarmed, and why have such thoughts (doubts) in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, for I am he! Touch me and see, for  a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” As he spoke these words, he showed them his hands and feet. They still did not believe out of joy, and they were amazed. He said to them, “Do you have any food here?” They gave him a portion of roasted fish. He took and ate before their eyes. He said to them, “These are the things (words) that I spoke to you about while I was still with you. For every (all) Scripture (כָּל־הַכָּתוּב-kol Ha-Katuv) about me shall surely be fulfilled in the Torah of Mosheh (תוֹרַת מֹשֶׁה), in the Nevi’im (הַנְּבִיאִים-the Prophets) and in the Tehillim (תְּהִלִּים-the Psalms).” Then he opened their hearts to understand the Scriptures (הַכְּתוּבִים-Ha-Kettuvim). He said to them, “It is written that Ha-Mashiach (the Anointed One) would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and that teshuvah (turning to God) will be proclaimed in His name and the forgiveness of sins among all of the nations beginning with Yerushalayim. You are witnesses of these things. See, I am sending you what is promised by my Father. As for you, remain in the city of Yerushalayim until you are clothed with strength (power) from on high.” (lit. the heights)

Yochanan 20:19-23

וַיְהִי בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא וְהוּא אֶחָד בַּשַּׁבָּת לְעֵת־עֶרֶב כַּאֲשֶׁר נִסְגְּרוּ דַּלְתוֹת הַבַּיִת אֲשֶׁר־נִקְבְּצוּ שָׁם הַתַּלְמִידִים מִיִּרְאַת הַיְּהוּדִים וַיָּבֹא יֵשׁוּעַ וַיַּעֲמֹד בֵּינֵיהֶם וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם שָׁלוֹם לָכֶם׃ וְאַחֲרֵי דַבְּרוֹ זֹאת הֶרְאָם אֶת־יָדָיו וְאֶת־צִדּוֹ וַיִּשְׂמְחוּ הַתַּלְמִידִים בִּרְאוֹתָם אֶת־הָאָדוֹן׃ וַיֹּסֶף יֵשׁוּעַ וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם שָׁלוֹם לָכֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר שָׁלַח אֹתִי הָאָב כֵּן אָנֹכִי שֹׁלֵחַ אֶתְכֶם׃ וְאַחֲרֵי דַבְּרוֹ זֹאת וַיִּפַּח בָּהֶם וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם קְחוּ לָכֶם אֶת־רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃ וְהָיָה כָּל־אֲשֶׁר תִּסְלְחוּ לְחַטֹּאתָם וְנִסְלַח לָהֶם וַאֲשֶׁר תַּאֲשִׁימוּ יֶאְשָׁמוּ׃

לְעֵת עֶרֶב, בְּאוֹתוֹ יוֹם רִאשׁוֹן בַּשָּׁבוּעַ, כַּאֲשֶׁר דַּלְתוֹת הַמָּקוֹם שֶׁנֶּאֶסְפוּ בּוֹ הַתַּלְמִידִים הָיוּ סְגוּרוֹת מִפַּחַד רָאשֵׁי הַיְּהוּדִים, בָּא יֵשׁוּעַ וְעָמַד בֵּינֵיהֶם. אָמַר לָהֶם: “שָׁלוֹם לָכֶם.” לְאַחַר מִכֵּן הֶרְאָה לָהֶם אֶת יָדָיו וְאֶת צִדּוֹ, וְהַתַּלְמִידִים נִתְמַלְּאוּ שִׂמְחָה כִּרְאוֹתָם אֶת הָאָדוֹן. הוֹסִיף יֵשׁוּעַ וְאָמַר לָהֶם: “שָׁלוֹם לָכֶם. כְּשֵׁם שֶׁהָאָב שָׁלַח אוֹתִי, כֵּן גַּם אֲנִי שׁוֹלֵחַ אֶתְכֶם.” אַחֲרֵי אָמְרוֹ זֹאת נָפַח עֲלֵיהֶם וְאָמַר לָהֶם: “קַבְּלוּ אֶת רוּחַ הַקֹּדֶשׁ. כָּל מִי שֶׁתִּסְלְחוּ לוֹ עַל חֲטָאָיו, הֵם יִסָּלְחוּ לוֹ; לְכָל מִי שֶׁתִּזְקְפוּ אוֹתָם, יִזָּקְפוּ לוֹ.” פ

On that day, which was the first day of the week, at the time of evening, when the doors were closed in the house where the talmidim had gathered due to fear of the Jewish leaders (ראשי היהודים). Yeshua came and stood among them and said to them, “Shalom to you.” Then He showed them his hands and his side, and the talmidim were filled with joy when they saw Ha-Adon (האדון). Once more, Yeshua said to them, “”Shalom to you. Just as the Father has sent me, I also send you.” After saying this, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Spirit of the Holy One. All those whose sins you forgive (pardon) will be forgiven (pardoned), and those whom you charge (שֶׁתִּזְקְפוּ ,תאשימו) will be *condemned (יֶאְשָׁמוּ-shall be guilty).

*According to the Brit Chadashah between Adonai and Israel (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) all our sins (acts of lawlessness, rebellion, and transgression) against Him are now carried away, covered and therefore, no longer taken into account (לא יחשב-credited against us).

The Miracle at a Glance:

The Location: A closed, secure room in Jerusalem where the disciples were hiding in fear.

The Appearance: Without opening the doors, Yeshua simply stands in their midst.The Messiah Yeshua miraculously appears in the room with his talmidim who are terrified and initially believe they are seeing a ghost.

The Greeting: “Peace be with you.”

Providing Proof:

To prove that he was not a phantom and possessed a physical resurrected body, Yeshua took several actionable steps:

Invites touch: He showed them his crucifixion wounds on hid hands and feet and invited them to touch him.

Eats food: To demonstrate His physical nature, He asked for something to eat and was given a piece of broiled fish, which He consumed in front of them.

“Then he said to them, ‘These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures” (Luke 24:44-45).

Deeper Understanding:

Before this miraculous entrance, Yeshua had already met with two followers on the Road to Emmaus, later vanishing from their sight once they recognized him in the breaking of the bread. After showing his Eleven talmidim his hands and feet in the room, he opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures, preparing them to be witnesses to the world.

Yeshua’s first post-resurrection entry into a locked room (John 20:19) is a mystery faith and science. Scholars suggest three main explanations for how the laws of nature were bypassed:

Dimensional Physics: Some quantum physicists suggest Yeshua slipped in through an unseen, higher spatial dimension.

Trans-location/Teleportation: He may have instantaneously shifted from outside to inside the room without traversing the intervening space.

Supremacy over Matter: Instead of physically passing through walls, He may have miraculously unlocked the physical barriers or manipulated the atomic density of the room’s environment. [1, 2]

Scholars agree the event showcases hisvresurrected, glorified, imperishable form—proving that while he was physically tangible (He ate fish and let Thomas touch his wounds), He was no longer bound by earthly physical laws.

Therefore, all previous miracles aside the glorified resurrected body of the Messiah would not be bound by any natural laws that God has established. The Messiah informed us how this is. He clearly declared that because of his perfect obedience to God our Father, Adonai had placed all authority and power into hands. We read:

All Authority has been given to Messiah:

“The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.” 

Yeshua knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God…”

“Then Yeshua came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.'”
