משל של הקהלת בזמירנה

אל מלאך קהלת זמירנה כתב: את אלה הדברים אומר הראשון והאחרון, אשר מת ויחי:  פ

To the Messenger of the Smyrna community write: These words are said by the one who is the first and the last, who died and lives (אשר מת ויחי):

אני יודע את צרתך ואת עניך – אלא שעשיר אתה – ואת גדופם של האומרים ‘יהודים אנחנו’ ואינם אלא כנסת השטן. אל תירא מפני מה שאתה עתיד לסבל. הנה עתיד השטן להשליך אנשים מכם לכלא כדי שתנסו, ותהיה לכם צרה עשרת ימים. היה נאמן עד מות ואתן לך עטרת החיים. פ

I know your distress and your poverty – but you are rich (אלא שעשיר אתה) – and the people who say ‘we are Yehudim’ (יהודים-Jews) and are nothing but a (legislative) Assembly of the Adversary (כנסת השטן). Fear not for what you will suffer. Here is the future: the Adversary (השטן) will throw some of you into prison in order to test you, and you will have trouble (צרה-tribulation, adversity, distress) for ten days (עשרת ימים). Be faithful until death and I will give you the Crown of Life (עטרת החיים).

מי שאזן לו, ישמע נא מה שהרוח אומרת לקהלות. המנצח לא ינזק במות השני.  פ

Whoever listens (מי שאזן לו-has an ear that hears) will hear, understand, and obey (שמע-shama) what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes (המנצח) will not be hurt by the second death (המות השני).
