לעת ערב נגשו אליו תלמידיו ואמרו: המקום שומם והשעה כבר מאחרת; שלח את המון העם וילכו אל הכפרים לקנות להם אכל. אמר להם ישוע: אין הם צריכים ללכת. תנו להם אתם לאכל. השיבו לו: אין לנו פה אלא חמש ככרות לחם ושני דגים. אמר: הביאו אותם אלי הנה. הוא צוה את העם לשבת על הדשא, לקח את חמש ככרות הלחם ואת שני הדגים, נשא עיניו השמימה וברך. לאחר מכן בצע את הלחם ונתן לתלמידים והתלמידים נתנו לעם. הכל אכלו ושבעו, וממה שנותר אספו שנים-עשר סלים מלאים. מספר האוכלים היה כחמשת אלפים איש מלבד הנשים והטף. פ
At the time of the evening, his (the Messiah’s) talmidin approached him and said, “This place is desolate and the day has stretched on. Send away the crowd of people so they may go to the villages to buy food for themselves.” He said to them, “They do not need to go. You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “We do not have anything here except five loaves of bread and two fish!” He said, “Bring them here to me.” He commanded the people to sit on the grass, and he took the two loaves of bread and the two fish. He lifted his eyes toward heaven and made a brachah. Then he broke and gave the bread to his talmidin, and the talmidin gave it to the people. All of them ate and were satisfied, and from the leftover pieces they picked up twelve full baskets. Those who ate were about five thousand men, not counting the women and children.
Markos 6:32-44

הם הפליגו משם בסירה אל מקום שומם לבדם. רבים ראו את ישוע והשליחים יוצאים והכירו אותם, ומכל הערים רצו לשם ברגל והקדימו אותם. כשיצא ישוע וראה המון רב נכמרו רחמיו עליהם, כי היו כצאן אשר אין להם רועה. הוא החל ללמד אותם דברים רבים. כשנטה היום לערב נגשו אליו תלמידיו ואמרו: המקום שומם והשעה כבר מאחרת. שלח אותם שילכו אל העירות והכפרים מסביב ויקנו להם לאכל. השיב ואמר להם: תנו להם אתם לאכל. שאלו אותו: האם נלך ונקנה לחם במאתים דינר ונתן להם לאכל? אמר להם: כמה ככרות לחם יש לכם? לכו וראו. אחרי שבררו השיבו: חמש, ושני דגים. הוא צוה עליהם להושיב את כלם חבורה חבורה על הדשא הירוק, והם ישבו בקבוצות של מאה ושל חמשים. לקח את חמש ככרות הלחם ואת שני הדגים ולאחר שנשא עיניו השמימה וברך, בצע את הלחם ונתן לתלמידיו להגיש להם, וגם את שני הדגים חלק לכלם. הכל אכלו ושבעו, וממה שנותר אספו שנים-עשר סלים מלאים, בכלל זה גם דגים. מספר האוכלים היה חמשת אלפים איש. פ
They went from there in a boat to one of the desolate areas alone. But the crowd saw them leaving, and many recognized him (Yeshua). They ran there on foot from all of the towns. They passed him and gathered around him. Yeshua went out and saw the great crowd of people, and he felt moved for them because they were like sheep that have no shepherd. He began to teach them many things. As the day faded to darkness, his talmidin approached and said, “Look, this place is desolate and the day has greatly declined. Send them away and let them go to the settlements and villages around here to buy bread for themselves, for they do not have anything to eat.” He answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “Shall we go to buy bread with two hundred dinarim to give them something to eat?” He said to them, “How many loaves of bread do you have? Go look and find out.” (Each loaf of bread was round, flat, and sufficient in size to provide two servings.) They said, “Five, and two fish.” He commanded all of them to sit, group by group, separately, on the green grass. They sat in rows of hundreds and fifties. He took the five loaves of bread and the two fish; he lifted his eyes toward heaven and made a brachah. Then he broke the bread and gave it to his talmadin to place it before them, and he divided the two fish for them all. All of them ate and were satisfied. They picked up twelve baskets full of the pieces of bread, as well as of the fish. Those eating the bread were about five thousand men. [and there were also fed about five thousand women and children.]

הַיּוֹם נָטָה לַעֲרֹב וְהַשְּׁנֵים־עָשָׂר נִגְּשׁוּ וְאָמְרוּ אֵלָיו: שְׁלַח נָא אֶת הָעָם וְיֵלְכוּ אֶל הַיִּשּׁוּבִים וְהַכְּפָרִים שֶׁמִּסָּבִיב כְּדֵי לָלוּן וּלְהַשִֹיג אֹכֶל, כִּי פֹּה נִמְצָאִים אָנוּ בְּמָקוֹם שׁוֹמֵם. אָמַר לָהֶם: תְּנוּ לָהֶם אַתֶּם לֶאֱכֹל, אַךְ הֵם אָמְרוּ: אֵין לָנוּ יוֹתֵר מֵחֲמֵשׁ כִּכְּרוֹת לֶחֶם וּשְׁנֵי דָגִים, אֶלָּא אִם כֵּן נֵלֵךְ אֲנַחְנוּ וְנִקְנֶה אֹכֶל לְכָל הָעָם הַזֶּה; כִּי הָיוּ שָׁם כַּחֲמֵשֶׁת אֲלָפִים אֲנָשִׁים. עָנָה וְאָמַר לְתַלְמִידָיו: הוֹשִׁיבוּ אוֹתָם בִּקְבוּצוֹת, כַּחֲמִשִּׁים אִישׁ בְּכָל קְבוּצָה. כָּךְ עָשׂוּ וְהוֹשִׁיבוּ אֶת כֻּלָּם. לָקַח יֵשׁוּעַ אֶת חֲמֵשׁ כִּכְּרוֹת הַלֶּחֶם וְאֶת שְׁנֵי הַדָּגִים, וּלְאַחַר שֶׁנָּשָׂא עֵינָיו הַשָּׁמַיְמָה וּבֵרַךְ עֲלֵיהֶם, בָּצַע אוֹתָם וּנְתָנָם לְתַלְמִידָיו לְהַגִּישׁ לָעָם. הַכֹּל אָכְלוּ וְשָׂבְעוּ, וּמִמַּה שֶּׁנּוֹתַר לָהֶם נֶאֶסְפוּ שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂר סַלִּים. פ
היום נטה לערב והשנים-עשר נגשו ואמרו אליו: שלח נא את העם וילכו אל הישובים והכפרים שמסביב כדי ללון ולהשיג אכל, כי פה נמצאים אנו במקום שומם. אמר להם: תנו להם אתם לאכל, אך הם אמרו: אין לנו יותר מחמש ככרות לחם ושני דגים, אלא אם כן נלך אנחנו ונקנה אכל לכל העם הזה; כי היו שם כחמשת אלפים אנשים. ענה ואמר לתלמידיו: הושיבו אותם בקבוצות, כחמשים איש בכל קבוצה. כך עשו והושיבו את כלם. לקח ישוע את חמש ככרות הלחם ואת שני הדגים, ולאחר שנשא עיניו השמימה וברך עליהם, בצע אותם ונתנם לתלמידיו להגיש לעם. הכל אכלו ושבעו, וממה שנותר להם נאספו שנים-עשר סלים. פ
The day was fading toward evening, so the twelve approached and said to him, “Please send the people away and let them go the villages and settlements that are around us to lodge and find food, because we are in a desolate place.” He said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We do not have anything but five loaves of bread and two fish, unless we go and buy food for all these people.” For there were about five thousand men. He said to His talmidin, “Make them sit row by row, fifty men to a row.” They did so and they made them all sit. He took the five loaves of bread and the two fish, and he lifted his eyes toward heaven, made a brachah over them, and gave them to his talmidin to place before the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up twelve full baskets of the leftover pieces.

Yeshua went up (climbed) the mountain and sat there along with his talmidin. The days of Pesach, a festival of the Yehudim, were on the brink of arrival. Yeshua lifted his eyes and saw many people coming to him and said to Pilippos, “Where will we buy bread for them to eat?” But he said this to test him, because he knew what he would do. Pilippos answered, “We would not find enough bread with two hundred dinarim for each man to take even a little.” One of his talmidin Andrai (Adam), brother of Shim’on Keifa (Petros)—said to him, “Look, a young man is with us who has five loaves of barley bread and two fish, although what are they for so many people?” Yeshua said, “Command the people to sit on the ground.” There was plenty of green grass in that place, so they sat on the ground—about five thousand men in number. Yeshua took the loaves of bread, made a brachah, and gave them to his talmidin. The talmidin gave them to those reclining. They did the same with the fish, as much as their soul craved. When they were satisfied, he said to his talmidin, “Gather the pieces of bread that are left over, so that nothing will be lost.” They gathered it and filled twelve baskets from the pieces of five loaves of barley bread left over by those who ate them. When the people saw this sign that Yeshua had done, they said, “This is truly the Prophet that comes to the world!”
“After these things”:
As discussed previously, on Nisan 1 Herod Antipas had killed the prophet of the Most High Yochanan ben Zechariah ben Aaron. After preaching the good news (besorah) of the Messiah throughout Galilee and hearing about Yochanan’s execution the disciples immediately returned to the Messiah. The time between Yochanan’s arrest and execution was about six months; from the fall month of Tishri to the spring month of Nisan. Although we do not know when the disciples were first sent on their preaching mission throughout Galilee, we do know that their mission concluded at the execution of the prophet Yochanan on Nisan 1. From the 1st of Nisan (Rosh Chodashim, “the head of the months”) the disciples rushed to tell the Messiah Yeshua the tragic news. After delivering the news of Yochanan’s execution by beheading and an an account of their mission the Messiah decided to transit to a remote place in the northeast side of the Sea of Galilee to be alone with His disciples. Multitudes of people were following the Messiah. Consequently, His private location was discovered, and a crowd was assembling nearby there.
The first of two Elijahs to come:
Yochanan was the first of two Elijahs to come. He was the herald of Messiah ben Joseph’s appearance on earth (the Suffering Messiah). There will be yet one more “Elijah to come.” He will act as the herald of the Messiah ben David (the Conquering Messiah). Yochanan is the “voice of one crying in the wilderness.” Isaiah spoke of him. The herald of the Messiah ben Joseph came in the “spirit and power” of Elijah (Isaiah):
A voice is calling out,
“Clear the way for HaShem in the wilderness;
Make smooth in the desert a highway for Eloheinu.
“Let every valley be lifted up,
And every mountain and hill be made low;
And let the rough ground become a plain,
And the rugged terrain a broad valley;
In order that the glory of HaShem will be revealed,
And all flesh will see it together;
For the mouth of HaShem (the NAME) has spoken.”
The prophet Yochanan’s message had a twofold emphasis: the imminent appearance of the Messiah; and the urgent need for repentance among the people of Israel to prepare for the coming of the Messiah. The prophet expected the people to practice charity and consideration for others. Self-love and covetousness (practiced as substitutes for loving HaShem) were the prevalent sins that the prophet preached against. To the public officials and business leaders he cautioned against extortion, to the soldiers against using excessive force and abusing their power to take from the citizenry more than they were entitled to. The prophet’s ascetic manner of life and fiery manner of speech caused the people from all parts of Israel to come to the place where he was, on the banks of the Jordan. There he immersed (as a mikvah, mikveh for purification, cleansing) countless thousands of his fellow Jews in an attitude of national repentance.
Hanavai Yochanan’s call for personal and national repentance:
The mikveh of the immersion of Yochanan in the river Jordan was accompanied by teshuvah (repentance).
This call to be immersed in the cleansing waters of the Jordan complemented the prophet’s task of preparing the people of Israel for the coming of the Messiah Yeshua. In its basic sense it was a symbol of the cleansing of sin (of the Temple of Humankind) that was required before the people of Israel could be immersed in the Indwelling Presence of the Spirit of Holiness. In its fullest sense the immersion of the people of Israel by the prophet Yochanan ben Zechariah was an act of preparation for admission into the immersion of the Presence of the Spirit of Holiness: which was God’s preparation of His people and nation of Israel for admission into His messianic kingdom.
“Who warned you to flee form the wrath to come?”
When the Prushim (Pharisees) and Tzaddikim (Sadducees) came for baptism, Yochanan ben Zechariah said, “Who warned you to flee form the wrath to come?” The historical background to the prophet’s mikveh (baptism) is spiritual cleansing. This emphasis on immersion (tevilah) of the cleansing waters was especially important to do just before the three royal festivals of Pesach and Shavuot and Sukkot.
A large crowd follows the Messiah:
After these things Yeshua (Salvation of HaShem) went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (or Tiberias). A large crowd followed Him, because they saw the signs (attesting miracles) which He was performing on those who were sick. The miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 men (and an estimated 5,000 women and children) is the only sign recorded in all four of the Jewish Gospels (besides the resurrection of the Messiah). This fact alone points to its importance. The significance of the sign was expounded by the Lord in a long discourse. The miracle was spectacular. It caused a peak in the people’s messianic hopes. But in its aftermath many of His followers no longer followed him.
Nisan 1-7:
These events occurred during the week of Nisan 1-7 (3789, 29 CE).
The time-frame is one year before the Messiah’s death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. As stated previously, the Nisan 1-7 window of time is the same as that of the future annual observance of the cleansing of the Temple. The future 1,000 year Golden Age of the Messiah’s rule on earth will involve a new festival that will occur annually at this time. This new festival will occur annually at the beginning of the spring month of Nisan just a few days before the annual observance of Pesach (Passover, Nisan 14-21). There will be two opportunities to participate in the cleansing of the Temple. The 1st cleansing of the Temple will occur on Nisan 1. The 2nd cleansing of the Temple will occur on Nisan 7.

Beit-Tzaida (Bethsaida):
Today’s *corporate miracle of “Fed 5,000 men and their families,” occurred in a “desolate” and remote place near the fishing village of Beit-Tzaidah (Bethsaida); located in the northern area of the Sea of Galilee (also called Yom Kinnerot) . This is the fourth of twelve corporate miracle events that occur overall in the Seven Signs and Fifty Miracles of Messiah.
*There are Twelve recorded corporate miracles of the Messiah (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12). The number Twelve is a symbol of the “governance” of the nation of Israel and its people. Among these Twelve corporate miracles of Yeshua there are two very unique small group miracles: where one, he delivered Twelve of his disciples from a fierce storm by walking on the waters of the Sea of Galilee to their boat, getting in, calming the storm, and then instantly transporting the Twelve and their boat to the shore of Kefar Nachum (Capernaum); and two, when Yeshua healed a group of Ten lepers. These Twelve corporate miracles of deliverance and healing are a witness to the Messiah’s ministry to all of the House of Israel. Like the Messiah (Individual-Servant) our people of Israel (National Servant) are uniquely called (destined) by HaShem (the NAME) our Father and our God to serve Him and all the nations, peoples and families of the world as a special corporate body (nation) of Servant-leaders. (1, 2, 3)
For years the site of Beit-Tzaidah (Bethsaida) has been a matter of contention; with three sites contending for the honor. Et-Tell is presently believed to be the most likely site. However, excavators at el-Araj (an alternative site) have announced they believe they have identified the ancient city of Bethsaida Julias; located on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Evidence was discovered that this site, previously thought to be under water during the first century (CE), was actually near the shore and that the ancient sea level was six feet lower than had been previously believed (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
Bethsaida is mentioned more times in the Four Faces of Ezekiel (Four Jewish Gospels) than any other city with the exception of Jerusalem and Kefar Nachum (Capernaum). The name “Beit-Tzaida” possesses a double meaning. It can be taken to mean “house of the fisherman” or “house of the hunter.” The first spiritual meaning appears to be the best fit, since the Messiah had said:
בּוֹאוּ אַחֲרַי וְאֶעֱשֶׂה אֶתְכֶם דַּיָּגֵי אָדָ!פ
“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!”
Bethsaida (בֵּית צַיְדָא) was the birthplace of at least three of the Messiah’s early disciples. These disciples are Peter, Andrew and Philip. Peter had relocated to nearby Capernaum. We expect Andrew (Adam) likely moved as well. However, it appears Philip continued to live at Bethsaida.
Prior to the feeding of the 5,000, Yeshua turned to Philip and asked him where they should buy bread. Philip was asked this question because his hometown was just down the hill. Therefore, he was the one who would have known where all the nearby bakeries were. Two recorded miracles of the Messiah occurred in the region of Bethsaida. The first miracle was the feeding of the 5,000 men (plus women and children) and the second miracle was the healing of a blind man just outside the city of Bethsaida. In regard to the healing of the blind man:
And they came to Bethsaida. And they brought a blind man to Yeshua and implored him to touch him. Taking the blind man by the hand, he brought him out of the village; and after spitting on his eyes and laying his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” And he looked up and said, “I see men, for I see them like trees, walking around.” Then again he laid His hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly. And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”
It is important to note that just before the just referenced miracle of the healing of the blind man the Messiah had miraculously fed 4,000 men (plus women and children). We will be studying this narrative later as it pertains to the miracle feeding of the 5,000. However, it seems appropriate for now to report what transpired in the miracle feeding of the 4,000. The narrative of the feeding of the 4,000 is as follows:
“In those days, when there was again a large crowd and they had nothing to eat, Yeshua called His disciples and said to them, “I feel compassion for the people because they have remained with me now three days and have nothing to eat. If I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way; and some of them have come from a great distance.” And His disciples answered Him:
“Where will anyone be able to find enough bread here in this desolate place to satisfy these people?”
And he (the Messiah) was asking them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “seven.” And he directed the people to sit down on the ground; and taking the seven loaves, he gave thanks and broke them, and started giving them to his disciples to serve to them, and they served them to the people. They also had a few small fish; and after he had blessed them, he ordered these to be served as well. And they ate and were satisfied; and they picked up seven large baskets full of what was left over of the broken pieces. About four thousand were there; and he sent them away. And immediately he entered the boat with His disciples and came to the district of Dalmanutha. The Prushim (Pharisees) came out and began to argue with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, to test him. Sighing deeply in his spirit, he said, “Why does this generation seek for a sign? Amen I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” Leaving them, he again embarked and went away to the other side. And they had forgotten to take bread, and did not have more than one loaf in the boat with them. And he was giving orders to them, saying,
Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Prushim and the leaven of Herod!
They began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread. And Yeshua, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart? Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember, when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They said to Him, “Twelve.” “When I broke the seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of broken pieces did you pick up?” And they said to him, “seven.” And He was saying to them, “Do you not yet understand?” And they came to Bethsaida. And they brought a blind man to Yeshua and implored Him to touch him. Taking the blind man by the hand, He brought him out of the village; and after spitting on his eyes and laying His hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” And he looked up and said, “I see men, for I see them like trees, walking around.” Then again he laid his hands on his eyes; and he looked intently and was restored, and began to see everything clearly.
